The region’s three transit agencies are exploring new ways to connect Hazleton, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre.
The Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA), in partnership with the County of Lackawanna Transit System (COLTS), Hazleton Public Transit (HPT), and the Lackawanna-Luzerne Metropolitan Planning Organization (LLMPO), is developing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Feasibility Study to evaluate opportunities to enhance public transportation service in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties.
The Existing Conditions analysis is complete, and the first round of community outreach is ongoing. The project team is also working on Alternatives Development. During Alternatives Development, the project team will identify, compare, and refine BRT opportunities based on analysis, feasibility, and community input.
